Stress therapy for Alexandra

Yesterday drove through 250km of snow and blizzard on the insistent request of my mate, who apparently needed some variety to clear her head off the eider thoughts. If anybody does not know, she is intensely working on a book on the relationship between humans and eider ducks. Sometimes that results in brain overheat, thus the need for a cooling trip once in a while.

Kola Travel Co.

The site of Kola Travel impressed me with their well thought-out set of services. Based in Monchegorsk, about half-way between Kandalaksha and Murmansk. Adding them to my Recommended list. Please note however that I have no personal or even hearsay knowledge of them.

Monchegorsk

Midway between Kandalaksha and Murmansk, 100-something kilometers north from Kandalaksha, very good highway as Nov. 2013.

CLAIM TO FAME

It is burned out forest south of the North Nickel plant. Another association with “Monchegorsk” are gangland property transfers in early 2000s. Monchegorsk still servers as a reliable source of criminal news although these days they there is rarely anything spectacular. Mostly drugs and pedophilia (a campaign against these two in in full swing), scam, and petty theft.
