Alexander Sergeyevich Koryakin (commonly known as ASK) died of a heart attack on January 19 2014. His obituary has just appeared in The Russian Journal of Ornitology, Vol. XXIII, Express Issue 2014 No. 995. English translation of the above summary of his life and work written by A. Goryashkohis, Dr. Koryakin’s very close associate of 30 years, is being prepared.

They are curious and are not too afraid of people, and hang around houses a lot, especially in winter. This one got three eggs right from under an Eider in full few of about 15 people. After a debate on whether or not they should interfere, human observers returned the third egg to the nest, and offered a chicken egg to the weasel. The critter refused the substitute but got the hint and came back for the two eggs remaining in the nest. Both successfully hatched.

White Goose(Chen caerulescens)very rare nests in the Murmansk region. The first nest in the Kandalaksha Reserve was found in 2010 on the Maly Licky island (остров Малый Лицкий). One of the geese parents had a ring. By number ring set that this bird was marked in Germany and met later in Italy and Sweden.
