Spolokhi (translates as “sprites” or “flashes”) at Naberezhnaya 130, is Kandalaksha’s oldest hotel. Half of the rooms are overlooking what’s left of the Niva river after the power station construction, and offer a view onto tree-covered hills.
10 min. walk to the center of town.
Rooms are 1500 to 2700 roubles/night ($55-90). Parking is 170 roubles, or just over $5, per night. Tel. +7 81533 55656 or +7 81533 96690,+7 81533 55768 (reception), +7 921 172 8009(mobile).
The hotel has a kitchen where you can cook yourself, and animals are said to be allowed. Or were in summer 2011, when I spoke to the management of Spolokhi.
A VERY DECENT CAMPER PARKING, WITH WATER, SEWAGE, AND ELECTRICITY FOR 310 ROUBLES/NIGHT!!
There was some activity in their camper park and something tells me they are phasing it out. No surprise, $10/night is not the sort of money that will motivate anyone. I am looking for other options, possibly in Luvenga. Talk to me if looking for inexpensive camper parking. An option that’s budding at the moment is a supervized parking lot, with electricity, and a helpful local woman who will do your laundry and provide access to bathing facilities.
Overall, OK impression based on a couple of our visits and local hearsay although stories eg. on tripadvisor.com suggest you stay elsewhere.
